About JII

a Commitment to Excellence

The Foundation

WHO WE ARE

James Integrated Integrity Services (JII Services) was founded with a clear objective: to assist operators achieve safe, leak-free and reliable plant operation through effective mechanical joint integrity management.

With over 25 years of experience, we understand the challenges faced during shutdowns, turnarounds and maintenance events. Tight schedules, ageing assets, resource constraints and increasing performance expectations create significant pressure on maintenance and operations teams. A single flange leak can result in costly delays, environmental incidents, production losses and compromised safety performance.

Our role is to reduce those risks and provide confidence that bolted connections will perform as intended throughout their service life.

ENGINEERING BEYOND TORQUE

Technical Credibility

Unlike traditional bolting contractors that focus primarily on achieving a specified torque value, we focus on the integrity of the complete joint assembly. Torque is simply a means of generating approximate bolt load; it does not, by itself, determine whether a connection will achieve or maintain a reliable seal.

Many companies aim to generate an approximate bolt stress in the region of 45–55 ksi. However, the resulting stresses acting upon the flange, gasket and bolting system as a whole are often not considered. Factors such as flange rotation, gasket seating stress, operating pressure, thermal expansion and joint relaxation can significantly influence sealing performance throughout the life of the connection.

At JII Services, we understand how flanges, bolts and gaskets interact as a complete sealing system, allowing us to provide the engineering, where necessary, to ensure your bolted connections are fit for service beyond initial assembly.

Line graph titled "GASKET STRESS - EN 1591-1 LOAD CASES" showing actual gasket stress (Q actual) and minimum required gasket stress (Q min required) across three load conditions: assembly, test, and operating. The actual stress decreases from about 100 to 80 units, while minimum required stress remains below 50 units.

PRAGMATIC ENGINEERING

A UNIQUE APPROACH

We recognise that every organisation is at a different stage of its joint integrity journey. Rather than imposing a predetermined solution, we begin by understanding your current position and developing a structured approach that aligns with your operational requirements, resources and long-term objectives.

We provide technical oversight, governance and quality assurance throughout the joint lifecycle, ensuring critical connections are assembled correctly, documented appropriately and controlled through a structured integrity management process.

However, successful joint integrity management requires more than simply applying standards and checking compliance. During shutdowns and maintenance events, conditions are often encountered where flange damage, corrosion, pitting or sealing face defects are identified, yet replacement, machining or restoration may not be practical within the available schedule.

In these situations, we provide pragmatic engineering guidance based on recognised standards, sound joint integrity principles and practical field experience. By assessing the condition of the flange assembly as a complete sealing system, we help clients understand the likelihood of achieving and maintaining an effective seal, the risks associated with operating the connection and the most appropriate course of action.

This combination of governance, technical assurance and engineering judgement enables informed decision-making, reduces uncertainty during execution and increases confidence in leak-free startup and long-term asset reliability.

“JII doesn’t just identify defects, or tell you whether a flange complies with a standard. More importantly, we help you decide whether it will actually seal during operations!”

LEAK FREE EVERY TIME

Guarenteed Outcomes

Our services support operators, contractors and asset owners across the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power generation and industrial sectors.

Success is measured by more than completed work scopes. It is measured by safe execution, leak-free startup, reduced operational risk and confidence that every critical connection has been managed with the highest level of technical integrity.

Because integrity is not achieved by chance—it is achieved through control, competence and verification.

Why JII

What Makes Us Different

JII combines deep practical sealing knowledge with rigorous engineering methodology — understanding not only what the standards require, but what will actually seal under real process conditions.
